Saturday

Hey everyone,

It's been a fun week. Tuesday and Wednesday I had clincals. It snowed both Wednesday and Thursday here! There's nothing on the ground from it, but at least it snowed! Thursday we went to IKEA and the ICA Maxi (which is the grocery store). The IKEA here is so much smaller than the one in Cincinatti, but it was fun otherwise. We ate Pizza Hut for lunch haha. We were just feeling very American that day.

Food is getting a little better here. We've starting asking people how to make things at the grocery store, because ya know, we can't read anything. We made pancakes one night (which they turned out to be more like crepes). The syrup here is like pure sugar. I was a little surprised because they think all we eat is sugar at home. Which, after seeing the food they eat here, yes seriously all we eat is sugar :)

Clinicals were a lot of fun. I was able to go out with a nurse into a few homes. There are a lot of Finnish people here as well, (I learned some history), I guess in the 60's there was turmoil in Finland, and a lot of people moved here. I also gave a shot in the butt, which was my first time ever. I am under the impression that in the U.S. we don't give them much anymore because you risk hitting the sciatic nerve. Well, they do it here all the time! I also got to change a gunshot wound dressing. Very cool! Those were the highlights of my week.

I love my nurses as well. I get to meet new people every week. Every is very interested in hearing about America as well. They all want to travel there someday!

On Friday, we met at a cafe called The Expresso House with 2 Swedish nursing students, which let me tell you I'm sorry I haven't discovered it before this. The coffee there is amazing! But, one of them we had met before at the Pub. The other girl, though, is thinking about coming to Columbus next year to study. She wanted to hear all about Columbus, which we thought was pretty hilarious because she has literally been all over the world. I mean she got engaged at the turn around next to the Eifel Tower in freakin Paris!! But, anyway, we really had a lot of fun, that last night we went to the Blue Moon Pub here in Vasteras. We had dinner there & danced. It was a ton of fun. The live band was great :)

Today has been kind of boring...lots of homework! We're possibly going to take the train to Eskiltuna either tomorrow or Monday to sightsee. And hopefully shop a little!

This is the building my Primary Care Center is in. It's on the outskirts of Eskilstuna, a lot of Iraqi immigrants live in the area.

Vardcentral means Primary Care Center & Apoket means Pharmacy

It's snowing!!!

Our little armadillo outside of the front door of our apartment building. We named him Sven.

The Santa that Mom wants. I love him!

It's funny how we keep finding very American things to take pictures of lol
